Thrifty Threads

Welcome to the 3rd installment of "Thrifty Threads", AKA "Most Stylish Compact-y Outfit," where readers model their favorite secondhand clothes. A Compact-y outfit is used or recycled, whether it's from the Goodwill, a thrift store, or a consignment shop.

Today's model is Nicole, wearing her beautiful 1920s-style dress in front of her adorable little beach cottage in Santa Monica. She just moved in recently and has already painted the steps that gorgeous color of periwinkle. But back to the dress... It's so cute! She looks just like a flapper, especially with her short haircut and long string of beads. Doesn't she look great? Nicole bought this dress at a thrift store in Santa Monica (she doesn't remember the name) for $20. The label is Pudding Shop, which neither of us had ever heard of. The only thing I could find online with that name was a children's clothing line. But no matter- it's a great dress!

Nicole is a writer who co-wrote an award-winning kid's adventure screenplay and is at work on a romantic comedy script, among other projects. When she's not writing, she's trying to keep up with her incredibly enthusiastic 3-year-old son Lukas. He likes to munch on green pepper as a snack, requested plastic plumbing pipe parts for Christmas, and wants to own a chocolate factory when he grows up. He takes after his mom in the creativity and originality department.

Thanks Nicole for sharing that photo. Readers, it's your turn! Put on your favorite thrift store scores, take a picture, and send it to me. Don't be shy, we all want to see your fabulous finds! You can find my e-mail address on my profile page. It's so inspiring to see that it's possible to be fashionable and get great clothes without spending a ton of money.
