Free H1N1 vaccine

L.A. residents: If you're in a high-risk group and haven't been able to get the H1N1 vaccine, click here for information on free vaccinations available through the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.

People not in the high-risk groups (defined as pregnant women, health care workers, those under 25 years old, and individuals with compromised immune system and/or chronic health problems) are advised to wait until more vaccine becomes available.

Ours will be available to the public starting November 30th...

I know people who got their vaccines 2+ weeks ago and who still got H1N1 and got fairly sick.........

Canadian Saver- My understanding is that vaccines take some time to work, and that is why there is a misunderstanding that sometimes a vaccine actually causes someone to get sick. So that is why your friends may have gotten sick anyway- the vaccine hadn't become effective yet.

I think the benefits outweigh the risks, and I will get it as soon as it's available for everyone at our health center.
